Biography
Cristi Pogăcean is a Romanian contemporary artist residing and working in Târgu-Mureș, Romania. Pogăcean is a neo-conceptual artist best known for his multimedia artistic practice, drawing inspiration from every day life and mass media.
The Romanian artist defies the academic tradition of Romanian artistic education, encompassing sculpture, drawing, painting and installation. Pogăcean searches for objects, images and ideas to incorporate in his artistic practice. Using irony, wit and ingenuity, Pogăcean’s works are smart comments on the daily life and specific events, creating a critic al awareness within the viewer’s mind.[1]
Pogăcean is one of the main representatives of the contemporary art scene in Cluj, Romania.
Cristi Pogăcean has had shows at industry leading galleries such as Galleria Plan B or Da vid Nolan Gallery. Further, the Romanian neo-conceuptual artist has exhibited at renowned institutions such as Kunsthalle Winterthur in Winterthur, Switzerland; ARKEN Museum of Modern Art in Ishøj, Denmark; the Műcsarnok Kunsthalle in Budapest, Hungary; the Collectors House in Heerlen, The Netherlands; Tenerife Espacio de las Artes in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain; Netherlands Media Art institute in Amsterdam, The Netherlands; the Kunsthalle Project Space in Vienna, Austria; the Brukenthal Museum in Sibiu, Romania; the Institute of Contemporary Art in Dunaújváros, Hungary and the Forum d’art Contemporain in Luxembourg, Luxembourg. Further, Pogăcean has participated in major art events such as the 2nd Biennial Art Sect or in Katowice, Poland; the Art Encounters Foundation in Timisoara, Romania and the 5 2nd International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale at Romanian Pavilion in Venice, Italy.
