Maya Makino aims to capture and preserve the experience of witnessing scenes from the past, resulting from an involuntary awareness of sensations and appearing momentarily before her eyes. Think of the quietness of the night, the sound of the rain, or the scent of a flower. These fragments trigger childhood memories, followed by an experience in which those memories flash rapidly and are volatile through our minds before they disappear instantly, just as the artist becomes aware of these sights and senses.
Aron Barath
b. 1980, Hungarian
Aron Barath—born in 1980 in Novi Sad, former Yugoslavia, and resides and works in Budapest, Hungary—is best known for his abstract acrylic paintings as a chromatic experience, marked by color and the seductive qualities of paint as a substance. The Hungarian painter follows a strict methodology in his creative process, creating a technical frame in which he can set himself free. The layered build- up and the selected colors are reasoned. The color dictates the gesture of the artist, freeing itself from contemporary visual culture or communicational trends. What is left is pure, genuine, and truthful—light, substance, and color. His creative process is marked by a burst of energy, carried by the substance of paint and the intensity of color, capturing this energy and transmitting it to the viewer. Balancing between a structured methodology when it comes to layering the paint and the visible spontaneity of his gestures, the artist communicates his thoughts and feelings without compromise.

CAI Gallery is pleased to present Thank You For The Delay, a group exhibition taking on the notion of delay in the artistic process and a quip reference to the re-opening of CAI Gallery’s exhibition program inaugurating the new exhibition space. The show presents six paintings and three limited edition photographic prints, showcasing the works by Ono En, Marco Reichert, and Minh Dung Vu.

The Italian painter continuously examines the human figure from a pictorial and socio-historical point of view, marked by a strong affinity for history. With The Golden Days, Mattu takes on the collective trauma of the contemporary man, offering not only a critical note to our recent history but also providing comfort in its beauty.

The CAI Gallery program consists of on- and offline curatorial activities. Due to the interdisciplinary character of Contemporary Art Issue, CAI Gallery is able to implement a kaleidoscopic approach to rethinking the curatorial practice of a gallery for contemporary art, distinguishing itself from other galleries. The acquired research results, knowledge, and art scientific data of the CAI platform are translated into a carefully curated exhibition program and selection of artists. Besides being an exhibition space, CAI Gallery functions as the office of CAI and a project space for research, experiment, book launches, lectures, and other events.
