Biography
Radu Comșa is a Romanian contemporary artist residing and working in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Comșa is a visual artist creating objects as a transcript from his ideas, working in painting, printmaking, sculpture and installation.
Born in 1975 in Sibiu, Romania, his most recent work is marked by geometric shapes and primary colours implementing a conceptual approach to the creative process of painting. As a result, a radical and systematic abstraction emerges and is translated – or rather transcribed – into these artistic object hovering between painting and sculpture. Radu Comșa is one of the main representatives of the contemporary art scene in Cluj, Romania.
The Romanian artist is represented by SABOT Gallery in Cluj, Romania and Galerie Emmanuel Hervé in Paris, France. Comșa has exhibited at major institutions such as the Arken Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark; the Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, Poland; the Mucsarnok Kunsthalle in Budapest, Hungary and the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC) in Bucharest, Romania. Further he has participated in the Prague Biennale (3 and 4) in Prague, Czech Republic; the Timisoara Biennial in Timisoara, Romania and Documenta in Regensburg, Germany. His work features in important private and public collections such as the FRAC in Limoges, France or the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC) in Bucharest, Romania.
